Dancing Anvils Forge

Burghly Horse Trials 2010
Saturday 4th September

Once again this year, Dancing Anvils Forge hired a coach and ran a trip to the world renowned Burghly Horse Trials on the cross country day.
We left the forge at 9am sharp and headed down the road reaching the event just after 10am, everyone then went there separate ways to walk the course, shop til they dropped, to eat, to drink and be merry, and of course to watch the superb horses & riders competing in the cross country section of the event. The majority of the top names were there including the 5 times winners, William Fox-Pitt and Mark Todd who was competing at Burghly for the first time in a number of years. Oliver Townshend was also there tying to be the first to win back to back Burghly's on the same horse. Unfortunately it was not to be and he ended up 3rd after the show jumping section leaving the New Zealander Caroline Powell to win on Lenamore.

All in all a most awesome day.
